The Olympics may be over but the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games has just begun. From 28 August to 8 September, approximately 4,400 Para Athletes representing a record 168 countries will compete in 22 events in the first ever Paralympics held in France. The Opening Ceremony route went from Champs-Elysees to Place de la Concorde; a testament to Paris 2024’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.
Liberia at the Paralympics
Liberia made its first appearance at the London 2012 Games. Powerlifter, James “Bobby The Big” Siaffa, was Liberia’s first Paralympian and Flag bearer. He finished seventh in the men’s 82.5kg powerlifting group.
During Tokyo 2020, the Liberia National Paralympic Committee sent two athletes to the Paralympic Games as wild cards. Liberia’s first female Paralympian, Patience Johnson and Thomas Mulbah both competed in the javelin field events.

Liberia at Paris 2024
Liberia debuted two members from its National Amputee team at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Jutomu Kollie and Angie Myers both served as flag bearers.
Jutomu Kollie will make his Paralympic debut in the men’s 100m (T47), long jump (T47), and javelin (F46). Also making her Paralympic debut, is Annie Myers in the women’s shot put (F56).
Both athletes competed at the Tunis 2024 WPA Grand Prix – 18th Tunis International Athletics meeting back in March where Liberia won two bronze medals.

Kollie competes in round one of the men’s 100m (Heat 1, Lane 2) on 30 August at 12:57PM local time (6:57AM EST/ 10:57AM GMT). The remaining scheduled events will be updated as the start lists become available.
