On Friday 26, July, Go Team Liberia (GTL) hosted a pop-up concert at Station Afrique in L’Île Saint-Denise, France titled “My 26 on you, Paris!” GTL is an independent sports development and media organization that partners with the Liberia Olympic Team to cover the Olympic Games.

The event celebrated the 26, Liberia’s Independence Day, and promoted the organization’s ambitious sports development goals. These goals include creating Olympian-led sports camps to recruit and train young athletes based in Liberia. GTL enlisted Grammy-winning producer Lasanna Ace Harris and Liberian performer DJ Tag to host the festitivities.

During the event, Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Cyrus DeShield and Liberian Afrobeats artist 2C gave stellar performances, despite the strong rain that affected the attendance.

Station Afrique

Station Afrique, also referred to as The African Station, is an ambitious project featuring cultural markets, foods, music and performances from around Africa. It is keenly located at the heart of the Olympic Games, less than 3km from the Olympic Village, Stade de France and the Olympic Aquatic Center.

L’Île Saint-Denise created this fan zone in collaboration with with the Association of African National Olympic Committees. The station also acts as an homage to the 2026 Youth Olympic Games, which for the first-time ever will take place on the African continent, in Dakar, Senegal.

The festivities

GTL sponsored the 26 concert right before the Opening Ceremony. The organization booked the five original artists who recorded the “LIB Lion” sports anthem during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics to perform at the show. However three Liberian-based artists, Nuchie Meek, MC Caro, and Faithvonic, were delayed from attending the event.

These three remaining artists are scheduled to perform in Paris by the closing of Station Afrique on Sunday 11, August — once they arrive.

Despite the weather and missing artists, the concert went on as planned with DeShield and 2C performing back-to-back hits from both older and newer projects. GTL streamed the concert to online viewers. See the GTL “My 26 on you, Paris!” pop-up concert highlights.
