This commemorative stamp recognizes Liberia's participation in the 1972 Munich Summer Olympics.

At the 1972 Munich Summer Olympics, five new runners represented Liberia:  Thomas Howe, Edward Kar, Thomas N’Ma, Dominic Saidu and Andrew Sarte. The team competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m track events.
